Modi address mega rally in Mathura, corners Congress

Mathura, May 25 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive rally in Mathura where he highlighted the achievements of his government since it came to power after winning the Lok Sabha polls last year and even used the platform in hammering the Congress-led UPA government and said he will always think about the welfare of the poor.

"A year ago you made a decision & after 30 years you elected a government with a clear majority. Today that government completes one year," Modi said.

"I had said it in the very beginning that this is a government for the poor and for the welfare of the poor and we are successfully giving good governance in the country," he said.

As people cheered 'Modi Modi' and gave the Prime Minister a 'rockstar' welcome, he asked the crowd, "Have I not kept my promises...Burey din khatam hue ki nahin hue? (Has the bad days passed or not?)."

Highlighting the different moves introduced by the government, the PM said: "We opened bank accounts for the poor. The poor were not given the opportunity to enter the banks for so many years."

Speaking on the issue of 'farmer suicide', Modi said farmers must get a good life.

"We have thought about soil health cards for the farmers, the farmer will know about the condition of the land...We want to give our farmer irrigation and power facilities," he said.

He said: "There were so many people who never got pension. Ours is a Govt dedicated to the poor and we decided to give adequate pension."

Modi even used the platform in hitting out at the Congress and said scams have disappeared since his government came to power last year.

"If polls were held today, not a year ago can you image what would have happened?Had you not made the decision you made what would happen? Would things have changed had you allowed the previous government to continue," he said.

He said people of the country brought the change in the nation by voting a new government into power.

"Have you heard about any scams, any nepotism, any remote control in the last year," he said.

Attacking the Congress further, Modi said: "Some people are worried- they are facing bad days while others are seeing good days..These were the people who ruled for 60 years. These power circles are history now, there is no place for such people..I did not give guarantee of 'Ache Din' (good days) for those who looted the Nation for years. Your money can't be looted by anyone."

Modi said the world is trusting India and this is bringing investment in the country.

He said he will not take rest and dedicate his time in dedicating the people of the nation.

Riding on Modi's immense popularity, the BJP party came to power at the Centre last year.
