New Delhi, Nov 8 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday morning greeted veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani on his 87th birthday.

Modi went to meet Advani at the latter's residence just after returning in Delhi after Varanasi tour.

The two reportedly exchanged plesentaries.

Earlier, Modi wished BJP veteran on twitter by saying, "Wishing Advani ji a very happy birthday. May he be blessed with a long life and good health."

"His unparalleled intellect and insight make Advani ji one of the tallest personalities in public life. All of us have learnt a lot from him," he tweeted.

"Advani's determination and hard work has made the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) what it is today," Modi said on the micro-blogging site.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also met Advani at his residence and wished him on his birthday.

On Twitter, Rajnath wrote, "Greetings to Shri Advaniji on his birthday today. I pray for his good health and long life."

"Shri Advaniji has been a source of inspiration to all of us and his contribution to building the party can never be forgotten," Rajnath said.

Born in Nov 8, 1927 in Karachi, Advani, a Lok Sabha member from Gandhinagar, is one of the founder-members of the BJP.

He was the Deputy Prime Minister during the former NDA regime led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1999.

Currently part of the party's Margdarshak Mandal.
