New Delhi, July 13 (IBNS: The Indian government has invited US President Donald Trump as the chief guest for the upcoming Republic Day parade and celebrations in 2019, media reports said.

India has invited US President Donald Trump to be the chief guest for next year’s Republic Day parade and celebrations, The Times Of India reported.

However, India is still awaiting response over the invitation from the US.

Modi, in his tenure so far, has invited heavyweights to attend the Republic Day event every year.

In 2015, former US President Barack Obama had attended the event.

French president Francois Hollande also attended the major Indian celebration in 2016.

While  Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was present as the Chief Guest for the R-Day event last year, in 2018 all 10 ASEAN Leaders attended the event.
