New Delhi, Oct 30 (IBNS): Addressing the nation in his monthly “Mann ki Baat” programme on All India Radio, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday remembered the contributions of the jawans and appreciated countrymen for sending overwhelming messages to his “Sandesh2Soldiers” campaign.

"Soldiers sacrifice everything for the safety and security of the nation." Modi said.

" You can understand that someone (jawan) is stationed in a desert, someone on the Himalayas, someone is guarding our industrial installations and someone is protecting our airports. They are fulfilling a mighty responsibility. If we remember them then while being in a festive mood, our remembrance are going to give them strength and energy to perform their duties," the Prime Minister said.

Appreciating the countrymen for sending messages, he said, "I thank everyone for responding to Sandesh2Soldiers."

Modi also aid tributes to Sardar Patel whose birth anniversary will be observed on Monday.

"Sardar Patel has a rich contribution in strengthening the cooperative movement in India. He was always dedicated to farmer welfare," Modi said.

He also made the nation remember about his pledge to make the country clean as he said: "Diwali is a festival that is also associated with cleanliness. "

He said time has come to keep the entire nation clean.
