Mumbai: Fire at 'Make in India' event brought under control

Mumbai, Feb 14 (IBNS): The fire, which broke out during a cultural programme at Make In India week event in Mumbai, has been brought under control, officials said.

Several celebrities and politicians were present at the spot when the fire broke out, reports said.

No casualty or injury has been reported.

Fire fighters reached the spot and brought the flames under control.

The venue was evacuated immediately after flames were spotted, officials said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted: "Very unfortunate occurrence of fire in cultural program organised by GoM at Mumbai. No casualties reported, no one is injured."

"14 Fire engines,10 Water Tankers, and all Sr. Fire Officers are on site. Fire now totally under control. Program called off," he said.

"Venue was evacuated immediately . Traffic management allowed early dispersal without any trouble," the CM tweeted.

He said: "A fire safety audit was conducted prior to program &all SOPs were followed. Number of fire fighting equipments were kept stationed at venue."

Speaking further on the issue, the CM said: "A comprehensive inquiry into the incidence of fire will be conducted to ascertain reasons."

Actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted: "Shocked to hear about the fire break out at an event in Mumbai. Hope everyone is safe."

"Crisis effectively handled by our Mumbai Fire Department & @MumbaiPolice," he said.

"Not it forget the immense contribution of our Mumbai Traffic Department & 100s of volunteers & Organisers who are still there helping out," Deshmukh tweeted.
