'Mysoginistic goons': Smriti Irani after Congress leader's 'latkas jhatkas' comment
New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Ajai Rai on Monday sparked a fresh controversy stating Union Minister Smriti Irani only comes to her constituency Amethi to show "latkas" and "jhatkas", an unflattering reference to dance moves.
The remark provoked a sharp response from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Irani herself.
During a press interaction, Rai said: "Most of the factories in Amethi are on the verge of closure. Half of the factories in Jagdishpur industrial area are lying shut. Smriti Irani only comes, shows 'latka-jhatka', and leaves."
"Amethi has been a Gandhi bastion. We will ask the Gandhis to fight and again win from here in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls," he said.
In a response to the remark, Irani has dared Rahul Gandhi to run from Amethi in the 2024 elections.
"Heard you (Rahul Gandhi) have announced to contest from Amethi in 2024 in an indecent manner from one of your provincial leaders. So can I take it for sure that you will contest from Amethi?
PS: You & Mummy ji need to get your mysoginistic goons a new speechwriter," she tweeted.

PS: You & Mummy ji need to get your mysoginistic goons a new speechwriter.
"Such a remark from a leader of the party which gave the first woman prime minister to the nation is definitely shameful," UP BJP spokesperson Anand Dubey told reporters.
