NIA registers case in Manipur militant attack

New Delhi, June 7 (IBNS) The National Investigation Agency on Sunday said it has re-registered a case in connection with the killing of 18 army personnel in Chandel district of Manipur

"In compliance to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India vide letter No. 11034/66/2015-IS.IV dated 06.06.2015, the National Investigation Agency, Branch Office, Guwahati, Assam has re-registered a case with reference to the incident dated 04.06.2015 in which 18 Indian Army personnel were killed and 15 others injured in an armed attack in Moltung area of Chandel District, Manipur," the NIA said in a statement.,

"The NIA case, referred henceforth as NIA Case No RC-03/2015/NIA-GUW, has been registered under Sections 302/307/120B/121/121A of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 25(1)(C) of Arms Act, 1959, Section 5 of Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and Sections 16/20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. The case on the incident was earlie r registered by the Tengnoupal Police Station of Chandel District, Manipur vide FIR no 14 (6) 2015 dated 04.06.2015," it said.

"The aforementioned incident, representing an act of waging war against the Government of India, is alleged to have been executed by armed formations belonging to the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) and its affiliates active in North Eastern Region of India and along the Indo Myanmar border region.The conspiracy behind the attack is suspected to have been hatched by the top leadership of the NSCN (K) led by 1) Khaplang Pangmi of Myanmar, SS. Chairman of the outfit, 2) Kughalu Molatonu of Nagaland, SS.
General Secretary and 3) Alezo Chakesang of Nagaland, SS. Information Secretary, besides other senior members of NSCN-Khaplang and other affiliate organisations," the NIA said.
