New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday took over the investigation in Pulwama terror attack case from Jammu and Kashmir Police, an official notification said here.

NIA has re-registered the case related to Pulwama suicide bombing and took over the investigation, it added.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police was investigating the case of attack on the CRPF convoy on February 14, in which 40 Jawans were martyred and a few got injured.

Terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) claimed responsibility for the attack. Main accused Kamran, a Pakistani national and a local recruit Hilal Ahmad, were neutralised in a joint operation by J&K Police, Army and CRPF, on Monday.

Soon after the blast, the NIA sent its forensic team along with the necessary equipment to the blast site on February 15, to collect samples and forensic evidences.

The National Security Guard forensic team was also dispatched to Pulwama, which submitted its report to the Home Ministry. The NSG report first indicated that the explosive RDX with some chemical was used to make the blast more lethal.

Earlier too, the NIA took over the cases of terror attack on Army camps at Nagrota in 2016 and Sujuwan in 2018 and filed charge sheets in those cases.
