Nine people killed in truck-van collision on Mumbai-Goa highway

Mumbai/UNI: Nine people were killed after a truck collided head-on with a car on the Mumbai-Goa highway in Maharashtra's Raigad district on Thursday, police said.

The deceased include five men and four women. Meanwhile, a four-year-old child survived the accident.

A terrible accident took place near Raigad- Repoli village. The cause of the accident is still not clear, police said.

After receiving information about the accident, the police reached the spot and started rescue operations. There was a heavy traffic jam on the Mumbai-Goa highway due to the accidents.

Police have restored the traffic by removing the accident vehicles from the road in the morning.

A car and a truck collided head-on at Repoli near Mangaon in Raigad, said highway police.

According to eyewitnesses, an Eco car and a truck collided head-on.

The accident took place in the wee hours on Thursday.

The parts of the car have been blown away in the accident.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been sent to Mangaon sub district Hospital, police said.
