No consensus on vaccine passport yet at WHO level: Centre

New Delhi/IBNS: The World Health Organization (WHO) is yet to reach a consensus on vaccine passport, which will enable international travel for individuals who have received coronavirus vaccine jabs, Health Ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal said Saturday, media reports said.

So far, WHO guidelines and other countries, too, allow people with negative COVID-19 report, he said.

Necessary steps will be taken once the government reaches a consensus with WHO and the other countries, he added, responding to a question on reports claiming that people vaccinated with Covaxin may not be allowed to travel to other countries as WHO hasn't listed it under its approved vaccines.

The Ministry of Health had also rejected similar reports on its Twitter handle as "misleading and speculative".

He also said that there has been reduction in vaccine wastage--Covishield vaccine wastage plummeted from 8 per cent on March 1 to one per cent now and Covaxin from 17 per cent to 4 per cent.
