No full passenger service from April: Indian Railways

New Delhi/UNI: The Indian Railways on Saturday denied reports that the normal passenger service will be in operation from April, as COVID-19 cases have declined in the country.

The Railway Ministry, in a statement here, said that no such date has been fixed for resuming all passenger trains.

''Clarification is constantly being given to the media about it for the last few days. It is being reiterated again that no such date has been fixed for resumption of all passenger trains operations,'' said the statement.
''Indian Railways has been increasing the number of train services in a graded manner,'' it added.

Already, more than 65 per cent trains are running. More than 250 plus were added in January alone.

More will be added gradually.

''All factors need to be taken care of and inputs of all stake holders are to be factored in,'' before starting the full service, said the statement.

Asking all to avoid speculation, the ministry said media and public will be duly informed, as and when such a decision is taken.
