No moral policing on AIB Roast, says Maharashtra minister

Mumbai, Feb 3 (IBNS): Maharashtra minister for cultural affairs Vinod Tawde on Tuesday said that the Maharashtra government would not exercise “moral policing” to determine if a roast of actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor employed any obscene language and content during the event, media reports said.

“On #AIBRoast, will only enquire if the AIB had taken appropriate certificate. No moral policing if they r allowed by law, I can't stop them,” Tawde tweeted.

Earlier, he had said that “such vulgarity is a crime and based on facts which will emerge, the government will file a case against them”.

Later he softened his stand and tweeted that the probe would be limited to determining whether the event, held in Mumbai on December, had necessary clearances.

The roast featured a panel of eight and ‘Roastmaster’ Karan Johar where Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor shared jokes about their on-screen and off-screen lives. The event was  filmed in a Mumbai stadium with an audience of 4,000.
