No quarantine for fully vaccinated Indians travelling to UK: British High Commissioner
New Delhi/IBNS: No quarantine will be required for the fully vaccinated Indians travelling to the UK from October 11, the British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis said Thursday.
The norms were relaxed days after India imposed reciprocal travel restrictions on British travellers arriving in the country.
Ellis, in a statement issued on social media, said, "No quarantine for Indian travellers to UK fully vaccinated with Covishield or another UK-approved vaccine from 11 October. Thanks to the Indian government for close cooperation over the last month."
The easing of norms will particularly benefit "Indian businessmen and students", the British envoy noted.
Last month, after the UK announced that all Indian travellers, irrespective of their vaccination status, would be considered as unvaccinated and would have to remain quarantined for 10 days.

Covishield, which India has administered to a majority of its citizens, is the same AstraZeneca vaccine which has been included in the mass inoculation drive in Britain, Indian Foreign Secretary HV Shringla had condemned.
On September 22, the UK had included Covishield in the list of approved vaccines after India had protested.
India was still put on the stringent amber list of guidelines on travel, which made quarantine mandatory for travellers arriving from the country.
