Not against notes ban but concerned about people: Chandrababu Naidu

| | Dec 22, 2016, at 04:44 am
Hyderabad, Dec 21 (IBNS): A day after it was reported in media that N Chandrababu Naidu made a U-turn on the demonetisation policy following his initial support, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Wednesday clarified that he was not opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's higher denomination currency ban but was only expressing his concern about the "suffering of the people".

Refuting media reports that he slammed the Centre, Naidu said he had only commented on the lapses in implementation of currency ban.

Earlier, Naidu, an BJP ally, had said that he is having a tough time regularly to find solution to the crisis brought as a result of the currency ban.

In a party function of Telugu Desam Party in Vijayawada, Naidu had said, "Demonetisation was not our wish but it happened. More than 40 days after demonetisation, despite our best efforts, there are still a lot of problems and there appears to be no solution yet."

He said every day he spends about two hours trying to find a solution to the crisis but is unable to gain success.

Naidu had earlier supported the demonetisation move and had tweeted then that the notes ban was a moral victory for the TDP.
