New Delhi, Aug 14 (IBNS): Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the possible merger of two factions of the AIADMK.

After the demise of former TN CM late J Jayalalitha, the AIADMK was divided into camps in a bitter power struggle.

While one camp is led by Paneerselvam, TN CM E Palaniswamy heads the other.

Apart from Paneerselvam, Rajya Sabha MP V Maithreyan, former Rajya Sabha member Manoj Pandian and former state minister K P Munusamy were also present in the thirty minutes meeting with the Prime Minister.

Maithreyan was quoted by the The Times of India as saying: "OPS and Modi discussed all the major issues affecting the state. The meeting went on smoothly."

While O Panneerselvam was the interim CM of the state after Jayalalitha's death, the AIADMK general secretary Sasikala wanted to become the CM.

Though Sasikala was later convicted in his disproportionate assets case and was jailed, her fielded member E Palaniswami became the CM of the state.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami also met the Prime Minister on Friday.
