Ahmedabad, Aug 25 (IBNS): Led by 22-year-old Hardik Patel, the Patel community held a huge rally in Gujarat's Ahmedabad city on Tuesday.

The rally was held in the city   in support of the community's demand for the status of Other Backward Class.

The Patel community, represented by the Patidar Aarakshan Andolan Samiti, has been demanding reservation in the OBC category.

Their contention is that Patel youth are neither getting admissions in colleges nor jobs in the government and want 27 per cent quota in government jobs and education.

Addressing the rally , Hardik Patel said: "We are fighting for our right."

He said he Patel 's know how to 'snatch' their rights if the government did not t give them reservation.

The Patels constitute 12 per cent of Gujarat's population.  Those from the Schedules Tribes have 15 per cent reservation, Scheduled Castes have 7.5 per cent and OBCs have 27 per cent.
