Odisha: Bus falls from bridge in Cuttuck, 9 killed

Bhubaneswar, Nov 21 (IBNS): At least nine people were killed as a bus, in which they were traveling,  fell from a bridge in Cuttack city of the state on Tuesday.

 

The mishap occurred on the Mahanadi bridge in Jagatpur near Cuttack.

The bus was carrying 30 people.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his grief over the mishap and announced ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh to next of kin of the deceased and free treatment for the injured.

"CM @Naveen_Odisha expressed deep concern over falling off of a passenger bus from Mahanadi bridge. He directed minister @chandra_sarathi to rush to the spot & ensure treatment for injured, @osdma @CuttackDM & Fire Services to expedite rescue operation," the CMO Odisha tweeted.

"CM @Naveen_Odisha expressed deep grief over the death of some passengers in the Mahanadi bus tragedy. He announced ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh to next of kin of the deceased and free treatment for the injured. He has conveyed deep sympathy for bereaved families," it said.
