Bhubaneswar/UNI: Odisha government today announced to set up 45 Fast Track courts in the state for speedy disposal of rape and sexual assault cases against women and children.

The decision to set up the fast track courts was taken after a hue and cry over the rising incidents of rape cases and the Union government’s decision to set up 1,023 fast-track special courts for speedy trial and disposal of rape cases.

Odisha Law Minister Pratap Jena said efforts are on to set up 45 fast track courts in the state on a war footing.

He said, out of the proposed 45 fast track courts while 21 will deal with rape cases against women the rest 24 courts will deal with cases relating to Protection of Children from Sexual Offences.

The Minister said the fast track courts would be established soon.
