Bhubaneswar, Apr 3 (UNI) Police today over powered a woman and got her admitted to Capital Hospital while she was attempting to immolate herself in front of Naveen Niwas, the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The woman from Kaptipada area in Mayurbhanja district arrived in front of the Naveen Niwas, poured petrol on herself and tried to immolate herself by lighting the match stick. But before she succeeded in her attempt the security personnel deployed in Naveen Niwas overpowered her and later taken to Capital hospital where she was admitted.

The woman alleged that ruling BJD candidate for the Udala Assembly constituency Srinath Soren had taken one lakh to provide her a job. She demanded the money back as Soren could not provide her the job.

She said, Soren did not return the money and instead outraged her modesty when she asked for money.

The woman further said when she did not get any justice, she decided to self immolate before the CM's residence as protest.

The BJD has dropped its sitting MLA Golak Naik and fielded Srinath Soren in his place from Udala assembly constituency.

Police said the veracity of the allegation of the woman is being examined.
