Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit, with both leaders noting the steady expansion of India–Australia cooperation since the relationship was upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2020.

Albanese conveyed solidarity over the recent terror attack in India, and the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to intensify the global fight against terrorism, according to an official statement.

The meeting covered a broad spectrum of bilateral priorities, including political and strategic ties, defence and security collaboration, trade and investment, critical minerals, clean energy, technology, mobility and education.

They also stressed the importance of people-to-people exchanges.

Modi and Albanese reviewed regional and global developments and agreed that frequent high-level engagement has added significant momentum to the partnership.

Both leaders pledged to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and advance cooperation in the coming years.

After the meeting, Modi wrote on X: "Had a very good meeting with PM Albanese of Australia. This year, the strategic partnership between our nations completes 5 years and these years have witnessed transformative outcomes that have deepened our cooperation."

He further said:" During our talks today, emphasised three key sectors, defence and security, nuclear energy and trade, where there is immense potential for ties to grow further. The other sectors discussed included education, cultural exchanges and more. "
