Outside Jamia Millia University, fresh anti-CAA protest breaks out

New Delhi/IBNS: Some fresh protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, broke out outside Delhi's Jamia Millia University on Saturday, media reports said.

The protesters were agitating outside Jamia gates holding placards on their hands.

There have been protests happening since last Sunday as incidents of violence took place in areas like Jamia and Seelampur due to which the police has tightened the security arrangements vigil all around the city, especially in the sensitive areas.

After the protests outside Jamia turned violent on Sunday, police had allegedly assaulted the protesting students of the university sparking an widespread outrage across the country.

However, whether the students were involved in the violence are yet to be found out. 

On Friday, several protesters led by Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad had gathered inside the Jama Masjid and then marched towards the Delhi Gate.

What is CAA?

The CAA will grant citizenship to all Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi but not Muslim refugees who came to India from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan before 2015.
