Pak army will lay first brick of Babri mosque in Ayodhya, says senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan
Islamabad: In yet another provocative remark from across the border, Pakistani senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan declared that Pakistani soldiers would lay the "first brick of the new Babri mosque" in Ayodhya.
Her speech, delivered in Pakistan’s Upper House, has gone viral at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan are running high following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
"Pakistan Army soldiers will lay the first brick of the new Babri mosque in Ayodhya, and the first azaan will be given by Army Chief Asim Munir himself," she said on Tuesday. She went on to assert, "We are not wearing bangles."
Palwasha also remarked that Sikh soldiers would refuse to take up arms against Pakistan in the event of a conflict with India.
"If they are threatening Pakistan, then let them know that the Sikh army will not attack Pakistan because it’s the land of Guru Nanak for them," she said, invoking the religious significance of Pakistan for Sikhs.
Her remarks are the latest in a series of inflammatory statements from Pakistani leaders. Recently, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari issued a stern warning to India after New Delhi suspended the Indus Waters Treaty.
Speaking at a rally, the former Foreign Minister accused India of unilaterally walking away from the treaty and declared that Pakistan was the rightful custodian of the Indus civilisation.
"The Indus is ours and will remain ours. Either our water will flow through it, or their (Indians) blood will," he said.
On Wednesday, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan added his voice to the rising rhetoric.
Posting on X, he stated that while Pakistan prefers peace, it should not be seen as a sign of weakness.
"Pakistan has every capability to give a befitting reply to any Indian aggression, as the PTI government, fully supported by a united nation, did in 2019," he wrote.
