Pakistan fighter jets fly over Siachen Glacier; no air space violation, says India

New Delhi, May 24 (IBNS) : Pakistani fighter jets flew near the Siachen Glacier on Wednesday, Pakistani media reports said, though Indian Air Force said there was no violation of India's air space.

Pakistan-based Samaa TV reported that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets made flights near Siachen Glacier on Wednesday morning.

Quoting Pakistan Air Force sources, it said all of PAF's  forward operating bases have been made fully operational.

Chief of Air Staff Sohail Aman paid a visit to the forward airbase in Skardu on Wednesday. He was accompanied by top leadership of the Pakistan Air Force, the report said.

Samaa TV quoted PAF as saying that  Aman met the pilots and technical staff of the fighting force. A fighter squadron carried out higher and lower altitude flights.

The report of Pakistani jets flying near Siachen came a day after the Indian Army announced that it had launched "punitive fire assaults" on Pakistani positions across the Line of Control,  inflicting some damage.

However, media reports quoted IAF sources as denying violation of airspace by Pakistan in Siachen.
