New Delhi, Aug 5 (IBNS) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice on Wednesday as opposition MPs continued to protest against the suspension of 25 Congress members of the Lok Sabha stalling proceedings of the house.

The Lok Sabha too witnessed continuous uproars by Congress members over the issue.

Outside Parliament, police used water cannons to disperse Congress protesters outside the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan's residence as the ongoing opposition agitation demanding resignation of three high profile BJP ministers got further momentum with the suspension order.

Making it clear that the Congress is not going to retract from the path of confrontation, party President Sonia Gandhi said the sit-in being staged by MPs outside Parliament will continue.

"Unaware of any government proposal (on suspension of MPs). Our dharna will continue," she said.

Lending support to the Congress, BSP leader Mayawati said: "The decision of suspension of Congress MPs should be reconsidered."

Earlier in the day, opposition MPs raised an uproar in the Rajya Sabha as Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu informed the House on the train accidents in Madhya Pradesh.

Amidst the din, the Railway Minister made a statement on the twin train tragedy. He said  the  Railway administration and the Madhya Pradesh government are working together to rescue passengers of Kamayani Express accident.

Prabhu said the  government has rushed emergency medical and other relief personnel to the spot. "Darkness and water are creating hurdles in rescue operations but we have ordered all possible help. We are trying our best," he said.
