Pathankot terror attack : Yechury ridicules PM Modi over his Pak mission

| | Jan 04, 2016, at 07:47 pm
Kolkata, Jan 4 (IBNS) Referring to the terror attack on the Pathankot air base close on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pakistan visit, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has ridiculed the Prime Minister, saying the man boasting of a 56-inch chest has received a massive blow.

Speaking at  an event to mark the 50th foundation day of the party’s Bengali mouthpiece Ganashakti on Sunday evening, Yechury also and called upon Left parties  to unite against the BJP-led central government.

“The Prime Minister  used to boast about his 56-inch chest but that has received a massive blow yesterday  at Pathankot within days of his Lahore visit,” he said.

Altogether  seven security personnel were martyred in the fight against terrorists in Pathankot.

“Modi is claiming that the discussions with Pakistan have resumed. Then why such attacks are still taking place and who is responsible for this,” Yechury asked.

He  criticised the Centre for claiming that all the terrorists were killed on Saturday as fresh gun battle erupted the next day in a clear sign of more terrorists being alive.

“Even the information shared by the centre was erroneous. They had claimed yesterday that all the terrorists have been killed in the encounter but the terrorists are still there and we have lost precious lives because of that,” he said.

Yechury also lambasted  the Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal for its alleged misrule, and allegd that under its rule,  Bengal has become the rape capital of the country.

“Known as the cultural capital, today it is now infamous as the rape capital of the country. There is no law and order and criminals are being patronised bhy the ruling party," he said.

“Only the ouster of the Mamata government can restore  democracy and peace in Bengal and for that everybody needs to unite,"

CPI (M) state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra also called upon the Left parties and organisation to unite against the present government.
