New Delhi, Nov 29 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his four-day visit to the northeast on Saturday, media reports said.

“I am eagerly looking forward to being there & interacting with people,” PM Modi tweeted.

The PM is slated to address the country’s top police chiefs, flag off a train line from Meghalaya to Assam, commission a power project in Tripura and inaugurate festivals in Nagaland and Manipur during his visit to the region.

“I would visit Assam, Manipur, Tripura & Nagaland & attend a wide range of programmes that would connect me to all sections of society,” he wrote in another tweet.

According to reports, PM Modi will inaugurate the annual conference of state police chiefs in Guwahati. He will also flag off the first train from Mendipathar in North Garo Hills of Meghalaya to Dudhnoi in Goalpara district of Assam.

PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Hornbill Festival - Nagaland's biggest annual festival and the Sangai Festival in Manipur.

He will then inaugurate the second unit of the 726-MW power project in Palatana in southern Tripura.

“India will not develop till the Northeast develops. We are committed to realising the potential of the Northeast & accelerating its progress,” Modi tweeted.
