PM Modi chairs first Niti Aayog meeting
New Delhi, Feb 8 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday chaired the first meeting of the Governing Council, NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India).
The meeting is expected to provide suggestions on setting up of efficient processes and mechanisms for interaction between the Centre and states as also between NITI and other stakeholders, said reports.
Modi will also seek views of chief ministers and Lt Governors on Budget 2015-16, flagship schemes and infrastructure projects of his government.
The meeting is being attended by all chief ministers of states and Lt Governors.
However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is absent in the meeting.
NITI Aayog had replaced the 65-year old Planning Commission on January 1.
The first vice-chairman of the NITI Aayog, Arvind Panagariya, and full time members like Bibek Debroy and V K Saraswat joined the body last month.
