New Delhi, Sept 5 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday departed for Delhi, signing off his two-day visit to Far East Russia where he attended a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and also addressed the Eastern Economic Forum.

Modi wrote a tweet in Russian, in which he thanked Russian President for his hospitality during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok and said that the "productive visit" would bring the two nations "closer."

Later, the Prime Minister made the same post in English.

"Thank you Russia! This has been a productive visit. The outcomes of this visit will bring Russia and India closer. Gratitude to President Putin, the Government and people of Russia for their hospitality," Modi wrote in his missive.

The visit marked 'Signing of 50 Government to Government and Business to Business documents.

Unfolding the vision of bringing India closer to Russian Far East during his address at the Eastern Economic Forum', said MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar.

During his stay here, a first by any Indian Prime Minister, Mr Modi also met his counterparts from Japan and Malaysia -- Shinzo Abe and Mahathir Mohammad respectively.

Modi also held meeting with Mongolian President Khaltmaagin Battulga and discussed regional, global and bilateral issues.
