PM Modi inaugurates AIIMS Bilaspur

Bilaspur/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Dussehra by inaugurating AIIMS Bilaspur and laying foundation stones of projects worth Rs 3,650 crore here Wednesday.

Modi was accompanied by National BJP president JP Nadda, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur, Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur, and a galaxy of senior BJP leaders and a massive crowd of the people.

The Prime Minister was accorded a rousing reception on reaching Bilaspur.

He was received by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, JP Nadda, All India BJP chief, Anurag Thakur, Union I&B minister and Jai Ram Thakur, the Chief Minister besides others.

The Prime Minister was to address a BJYM rally at Mandi on September 25 at Mandi last month but he could not make it due to bad weather and instead he addressed the crowd from New Delhi through virtual mode.

Modi inaugurated the AIIMS Bilaspur, constructed at a cost of more than Rs 1470 crore, is a state-of-the-art hospital with 18 specialty & 17 super specialty departments, 18 modular operation theaters, 750 beds with 64 ICU beds.

Spread over 247 acres, the hospital is equipped with 24 hours emergency and dialysis facilities, modern diagnostic machines like ultrasonography, CT scan, MRI etc, Amrit Pharmacy & Jan Aushadhi Kendra and also a 30 bedded AYUSH block.

The hospital has also set up the Centre for Digital Health to provide health services in the tribal and inaccessible tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh.

Also, specialist health services will be provided by the hospital through health camps in the inaccessible tribal and high Himalayan regions like Kaza, Saluni, and Keylong. The hospital will admit 100 students for MBBS Course and 60 students for nursing courses every year.

Modi also inaugurated the Government Hydro Engineering College at Bandla in Bilaspur. Costing about Rs 140 crore, the college will help make available trained manpower for hydro power projects, in which Himachal Pradesh is one of the leading states.

It will help in up-skilling the youth and providing ample job opportunities in the hydro power sector.
