PM Modi mourns Sudhir Tailang's death

New Delhi, Feb 6 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday mourned the death of cartoonist Sudhir Tailang.

"Sudhir Tailang's demise is untimely & unfortunate. His brush brought smiles on many faces. Condolences to his family. RIP," Modi tweeted.

Quoting supremo Sonia Gandhi, Congress tweeted: "Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi has condoled the passing away of noted cartoonist Shri Sudhir Tailang."

Cartoonist Sudhir Tailang passed away on Saturday.

He was 55 when death came.

He was suffering from brain tumour, reports said.

In 1983, he joined the Navbharat Times in Delhi. For several years he was with the Hindustan Times, while also doing short stints with the Indian Express and The Times of India. His last assignment was with the Asian Age.

He was awarded Padma Shri in 2004.
