New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to the Father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi - on his death anniversary.

"I bow down in tributes to Father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Bapu's personality, ideology and principles will always inspire all to make a prosperous India," the Prime Minister tweeted in Hindi.

In another missive, Modi extended good wishes to the people on the occasion of Basant Panchami and hoped that Goddess Saraswati should impart knowledge to the people.

The Prime Minister also extended birthday greetings to BJP leader and his ministerial colleague Prakash Javadekar and wrote: "He is widely admired for his down-to-earth and affable nature.
