PM Modi to address the nation in a short while

New Delhi, Aug 8 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a few while from now will address the nation via a special broadcast on the national television and radio.

The PM's address comes two days after the government' decision to end the special status for Jammu and Kashmir and split it into two Union Territories.

According to media speculations, he is expected to state the reason behind the government's decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir while also bifurcating the state.

The last time he addressed the nation was on Mar 27 ahead of the national election when he announced that India had demonstrated anti-satellite mission (ASAT) capability by shooting down a live satellite.

He had also addressed the nation on Feb 15 in the wake of the gruesome Pulwama terror attack in which 40 security personnel were killed.

On Nov 8, in one such address, he had announced the government's move to ban Rs.500 and Rs.1000.
