PM Narendra Modi gifts Khamsa-i-Khusrau reproduction to President of Uzbekistan

New Delhi, July 6 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday presented President Islam Karimov a specially commissioned reproduction of Khamsa-i-Khusrau by the great 13th century sufi poet Amir Khusrau who was born in Uttar Pradesh and whose father hailed from Uzbekistan.

Written in Persian, and profusely decorated and illuminated with various colours including gold and ultramarine, the work is a part of the manuscripts collection of National Museum, Delhi.

Modi landed in Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent as he commenced his five nation tour of Central Asia and Russia on Monday.

"Tashkent: PM @narendramodi lands, marking the start of an important visit to Central Asia and Russia," PMO India tweeted.

Modi met PM Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev.

"The meetings begin instantly...PM @narendramodi meets PM Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev after landing at Tashkent," read another tweet posted by PMO India.
