Police arrest BJP leader for firing at a youth in Assam's Charaideo district

Guwahati/IBNS: Police have arrested a local BJP leader who allegedly shot at a youth in Assam’s Charaideo district.

The arrested local BJP leader was identified as Tinku Gogoi and police seized a pistol with two magazines and 22 rounds live ammunition and four empty cartridges.

According to the reports, Tinku Gogoi had allegedly fired gunshots at a youth during a party which was organized on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja on Thursday night.

The injured youth was immediately admitted at nearby hospital and the BJP leader fled from the area.

Later, Charaideo district police on Friday night had arrested accused Tinku Gogoi.

A top police official of Charaideo district said that, police had arrested Tinku Gogoi from a area of Dibrugarh on Friday night.

“We have registered a case and our investigation is going on. We have recovered one pistol, two magazines, 22 rounds of live ammunition in possession from him,” the police officer said.
