Police arrest two culprits for rape and murder of women in Assam trains
Guwahati, July 13 (IBNS): Assam police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) have finally arrested the prime accused and his accomplice in the rape and murder case of two women on board two trains in Assam.
According to the reports, police arrested the prime accused Bikash Das from Tinsukia railway station on Thursday evening while his accomplice Bipin Pandey was arrested from Dibrugarh-Bangalore Express at Banipur railway station on Friday morning.
The arrested persons had admitted of committing the crimes.
Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Kuladhar Saikia said the two culprits were arrested by the Assam police and RPF within 48 hours and several incriminating evidences were also recovered.
Police on Thursday arrested the main accused person based on the CCTV footage of Tinsukia railway station and also the sketch of suspected killer released by the RPF.
The prime accused person was frequently traveling on the passenger trains in past few days to sell cloths.
On July 10, the RPF personnel had found a semi naked body of a 21-year-old girl in a toilet of the Tinsukia-Rangia passenger train at Simaluguri railway junction in upper Assam’s Sivsagar district and a cloth was tied around her neck and blood was oozing out from her nose.
On July 11, the RPF personnel had found another semi naked body of a 55-year-old woman from a toilet of the Avadh Assam Express at Mariani railway junction.
The woman was also tied a cloth around her neck and blood was oozing out of her nose.
