Police official shoots himself inside police station in Assam’s Silchar

Silchar: A police officer, who was posted at Silchar Sadar police station in Assam’s Cachar district, allegedly shot himself dead with his service pistol inside the police station on Monday evening, officials said.

The deceased police official was identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gaur Bidhu Singh.

According to the reports, Gaur Bidhu Singh had allegedly shot himself on head by using his service pistol while he was sitting on his desk at the police station.

Following the incident, other police personnel of the police station rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood.

Cachar district Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramandeep Kaur said that, ASI Gaur Bidhu Singh who was posted at Silchar Sadar police station had allegedly committed suicide inside the police station by using his service pistol.

“Necessary formalities are being followed up in this regard and we are yet to ascertain the cause of in committing suicide. Legal formalities are being undertaken,” Ramandeep Kaur said.
