Police recover 297 grams of heroin from Tripura bound car in Assam’s Karimganj district, two held

Karimganj/IBNS: Police seized a huge quantity of contraband drugs and arrested two persons from Ashimganj area under Patharkandi police station in Assam’s Karimganj district on Sunday.

Based on secret information, a team of Patharkandi police station had intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number TR-05D-0625 and during search the police team recovered 297 grams of heroin packed in 27 soap cases which were concealed under the bonnet of the car.

Police had arrested two persons and they were identified as Saif Uddin and Taj Uddin.

Samarjit Basumutary Officer-in-Charge of Patharkandi police station said that the Alto car bearing registration number TR-05D-0625 was going towards Tripura.

“Based on our intelligence input we had set up a naka checking and intercepted the car. During the search, we found 27 packets of suspected heroin from the car. Our investigation is on,” Samarjit Basumutary said.
