Police seized 360 kg of ganja in Assam's Kokrajhar, two held

Guwahati: Kokrajhar district police of Assam seized 360 kg of ganja from a truck and arrested two persons.

The truck was coming from Tripura towards Bihar.

Police said that one among the arrested persons was injured in police firing when he allegedly tried to snatch the service pistol of a police personnel and tried to attack a police team.

The incident took place at Gossaigaon area in Kokrajhar district on Thursday.

According to the reports, based on secret information, Kokrajhar district police had set up a naka checking at Gossaigaon area and intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS-01DD-8635 and during checking the police had recovered 55 packets of ganja weighing about 350 kg from the truck.

Later, police recovered 10 kg more ganja from a place identified by the arrested persons. 

Kokrajhar district Superintendent of Police (SP) Thube Prateek Vijay Kumar said that the truck was coming from Tripura towards Bihar.
