Pranab Mukherjee expresses deep concern over flooding and landslides in north eastern Japan

New Delhi, Sept 11 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday expressed deep concern over flooding and landslides in North Eastern Japan.

In a message to Emperor Akihito of Japan, the President said, “I was deeply concerned to see the reports of the flooding and landslides in North Eastern Japan caused by unprecedented rainfall and severe weather conditions. I understand that relief and rescue operation are ongoing and I am confident that Your Majesty’s Government and the people of Japan will overcome this adversity with courage and fortitude."

"Please accept my sympathies for the injured and all those whose property has been destroyed or washed away," he said.

"The people of India offer their solidarity with the people of Japan in this difficult hour and stand ready to assist in any possible manner," Mukherjee said.

"I do hope that the situation will improve and return to normalcy very soon,” he said.
