A 5-month-old pregnant woman in Madhya Pradesh was allegedly made to clean blood from a hospital bed where her husband died after receiving bullet injury, media reports said.

The incident came to light after a video of the victim's wife cleaning the bed emerged, triggering massive outrage.

However, the hospital has claimed that the bereaved wife had requested the hospital to allow her to wipe the blood with a cloth in order to collect evidence for the police.

In Madhya Pradesh's tribal-dominated Lalpur village, four men, a father, and his three sons, were shot at. The tussle was over a long-standing land dispute.

While the father and one of the sons died on the spot, two others, Shivraj and Ramraj, were rushed to the Gadasarai Health Centre for treatment, according to NDTV report.

Shivraj succumbed to his injuries and his five-month-pregnant wife, Roshni, was allegedly asked to clean the hospital bed.

The viral video showed Roshni holding a blood-stained cloth wrapped in a newspaper on one hand while she cleans the bed using tissues.

Dr Chandrashekhar Tekam, a doctor at the Gadasarai Health Centre was quoted as saying by NDTV, that staff was present at the facility and the woman had not been asked to clean the bed.

A case has been registered against seven people under various charges, including murder. Some suspects have been taken into custody.
