New Delhi, July 14 (IBNS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday appointed Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya as the governor of Nagaland.
He has also been entrusted to discharge the functions of the governor of Tripura, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office are made.

Meanwhile, Mukherjee appointed  Ram Naik as the governor of Uttar Pradesh and Balramji Dass Tandon as that of Chhattisgarh.

While Keshari Nath Tripathi has been appointed as the governor of West Bengal,  Om Prakash Kohli will head the state of Gujarat.

All the appointments will take effect from the dates the incumbents assume charge of their respective offices.

Several governors during the UPA regime were either transferred or made to resign after the new government of Narendra Modi took over.
