President to present Gandhi Peace Prize on Tuesday

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI): President Ram Nath Kovind will present the Gandhi Peace Prize for the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 on Tuesday at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the award Ceremony to felicitate the awardees.

The awardees are  Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari for 2015, Akshaya Patra Foundation and Sulabh International for 2016 (Jointly),  Ekal Abhiyan Trust for 2017 and Yohei Sasakawa for 2018.

The Award comprises an amount of Rs one crore and a citation.

Gandhi Peace Prize for Social, Economic and Political transformation through Non-violence was instituted in 1995.

Former President of Tanzania Dr Julius K Nyerere, Baba Amte (Murlidhar Devidas Amte), Dr Gerhard Fischer of Germany and Rama Krishna Mission are among the awardees who received the award.
