Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah has been appointed to discharge the functions of Governor of Karnataka.

"Shri K. Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Karnataka, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Karnataka are made vice Shri H.R. Bhardwaj, who completes his tenure on 28.06.2014," a communique said.

Nagaland Governor Ashwani Kumar resigned from his post days after meeting Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Kumar on Monday said he has informed Singh that he wants to resign from his political chair.

Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said new Governors will be appointed soon.

"We will decide on the appointment of new Governors in three to four days," Singh told media.

West Bengal Governor MK Narayanan has reportedly told Singh that he needs more time to make up his mind.

On the other hand, Puducherry Governor Virendra Kataria also met Singh on Monday.

According to reports, all the Governors, who were appointed by the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, are likely to resign from their posts.

This came after reports said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government might change Governors in five states.

Pertinently, the Governors in Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and West Bengal were appointed by the previous UPA government.
