Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slams Modi govt over its reported plan to cut school education budget by Rs 3000 cr
New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday criticised the Narendra Modi government over its reported plan to reduce the school education budget by Rs 3000 crore in the 2019-20 financial year and said that the government is benefiting its 'rich friends'.
"The BJP government waives Rs 5.5 lakh crore of debts of its rich friends. They give six airports to its friends. But they are cutting school budget by Rs 3000 crores", Ms Priyanka tweeted in Hindi while sharing a news report that the Finance Ministry asked the Ministry of Human Resource Development to cut the amount for school budget, citing 'financial cruch'.
This "means big people eat rasgulla, but in mid-day meal, children from government schools will get salt and 'roti", she added.
According to reports, the Finance Ministry had directed the MHRD to cut Rs 3000 crore from its annual budget of Rs 56,536.63 crore for 2019-20, on account of lack of funds.
AICC communication in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala has also targeted the government and said, "it is clear that the BJP government is more focused on its own propaganda than on education".
