Pulwama encounter: Aide of JeM chief Mazood Azhar shot dead

Srinagar, Feb 18 (IBNS): In a big win for the Army days after the terrorist attack in Pulwama, key aide of Pakistan-based militant organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar, Kamran, was shot dead in an encounter in the same district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, media reports said.

The second terrorist, who was gunned down, has been identified as Ghazi Rasheed, who is an Afghan national.

Earlier, four soldiers including an officer were killed in an overnight encounter  with the JeM.

After getting an input that JeM militants were hiding in the Pinglan area, army, police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel had launched a search operation.

How Pulwama terrorist attack took place?

A suicide bomber (fidayeen) rammed an IED-laden vehicle into a vehicle carrying CRPF at Goripora, Awantipora on Thursday afternoon.

The attack left over 40 paramilitary personnel dead.

The vehicle used by the terrorists was a Mahindra Scorpio and it carried more than 350 kg of explosives.

The ‘Fidayeen' (who carried out the suicide attack) has been identified as Adil Ahmad, a resident of Kakapora in Pulwama.
