Punjab: Guru's body kept in freezer, tension mounts after HC order
According to reports, the followers have put up two barricades and even did not allow people from outside to enter the dera since Tuesday.
The followers have claimed that their guru is in a deep meditation.
Ashutosh Maharaj's body has been kept in a freezer for the past 11 months since he was declared "clinically dead" by doctors earlier this year.
Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, Kamal Kishor Yadav was quoted as saying to India Today: "I have asked the Superintendent of Police to remove the illegal barricades on the public place. Nobody can install the barricades except the police."
India recently witnessed the the police operation to arrest godman Rampal from his ashram in Haryana.
63-year-old Rampal was arrested on November 19 after a two-week tense standoff between his supporters and the police after close to 15,000 of his followers were evacuated from the sprawling "Satlok Ashram" premises at Barwala.
Police used tear gas, water cannon and bulldozers to storm his 12-acre base, breaching resistance from a human chain of supporters outside, and men throwing stones and bottles filled with acid from its roof.
The bodies of five women and one infant were found by officials.
Rampal was produced before the High Court on November 20 a day after his arrest.
