Punjab: Vigilance nab 12 officials, 2 others in ten bribery cases during April

Chandigarh, May 14 (UNI) Punjab State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing crusade against corruption, nabbed 12 government and two private company employees while accepting bribes in ten different cases during April, Punjab vigilance bureau Chief Director-cum-ADGP BK Uppal said here on Tuesday.

Those caught include four police personnel, two employees of revenue department and six from other departments.


Stating this Mr Uppal said the vigilance bureau has submitted challans pertaining to 13 vigilance cases in various special courts in the last month. Apart from this, one case has been registered for making disproportionate assets.


He informed that special courts have decided two bribery cases filed and contested by the Bureau during the last month, in which Pramod Singh, Junior Assistant, posted at Improvement Trust Rupnagar was convicted and sentenced with four years imprisonment and fine of Rs 10,000 by the Additional Session Judge, SAS Nagar.


Similarly, in another case, Ram Lubhaiya, District Manager, posted at Punjab Schedule Caste Land Development and Financial Corporation, Barnala was convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment and fine of Rs 10,000 by the Additional Session Judge, Barnala.
