Rabindranath Tagore is not restricted to only Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata, May 9 (IBNS): Remembering the contributions of Nobel-winner late poet Rabindranath Tagore in daily lives of people, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that he was not restricted to only Bengal.

Uttering the lines of different poems and songs written by Tagore, the Chief Minister at the birthday celebration of the poet, said: "We are reminded of Tagore and his works every day. Starting from the morning till the night, at different points of time in a day, Tagore's lines become meaningful to all of us."

"Lines of Rabindranath Tagore are apt to describe the different kinds of experiences of human life, be it happiness, grief, sorrow or depression, and provides strength to lives," Banerjee said in her short speech.

On the birth anniversary of the Nobel-laureate poet, Rabindranath Tagore, several celebrations took place across West Bengal to pay him respect.

"Tagore is our life and closest to heart" she added.
