Rahul Gandhi slams Modi govt over China's upgrading infrastructure at LAC

New Delhi/UNI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday slammed the government over the Indo-China border standoff issue, including infrastructure upgradation at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and said the Modi government has "no strategy" to deal with the situation.

Taking to micro-blogging Twitter, Rahul said, "Our national security is unpardonably being compromised because the Centre has no strategy and 'Mr 56 inch' is scared."

"My sympathies are with the soldiers, who guard our borders risking their lives, while the Government of India dishes out lies after lies," he said.

Rahul also shared a news report of an agency on his micro blogging site, quoting “Chief of Defence Staff, Foreign Minister’s Different take on China row”.

Rahul’s remarks came after the Chief of Defence Staff Vipin Rawat, while participating in the Times Now Summit 2021 on Thursday, claimed "China has only upgraded infrastructure along the border, and new villages have not come up."

He also asserted that China has not transgressed the Indian "perception" of the LAC.

His statement was seen as contradicting the official position of the Ministry of External Affairs, which has clearly stated that "India never accepted China’s illegal occupation of its territories."

In its recent report, the US Department of Defence said China built a large village inside the "disputed territory" between its Tibet Autonomous Region and India's Arunachal Pradesh in the eastern sector of the LAC.
