Rajasthan Assembly passes anti-CAA, NRC and NPR resolution

| @indiablooms | Jan 25, 2020, at 05:57 pm

Jaipur/UNI: A resolution against Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens and National Population Register, was carried in the Rajasthan Assembly by a voice vote on Saturday, amidst strong opposition from the BJP.

After Kerala and Punjab, Rajasthan is the third state to move on the path of confrontation against CAA.

The House was adjourned till 1100 hrs on February 10 after the approval of the resolution at the end of a five-hour debate.

As discussion on the resolution commenced, Bharatiya Janata Party members came in the Well and raised slogans. Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore accused the ruling Indian National Congress of vote bank politics.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal hit back, asserting that this law had hurt the basic secular structure and communal harmony of the nation.

The new citizenship law was passed by the Indian Parliament last month.
